mark moore gallery is pleased to present the exhibition “Everywhere there is somewhere” - recent paintings and monotypes by sabina ott - from September 6 - october 4, 1997.

several of the paintings assembled for this exhibition will be included in the forthcoming (november 1997 - january 1998) mid-career survey of the artist’s work at the forum for contemporary art, st. louis (ott, a california painter, resides in st. louis, where she is tenured professor at washington university).

an illustrated catalogue will accompany this exhibition, with essays by william gass and rochelle steiner, curator of contemporary art at the st. louis art museum.

“everywhere there is somewhere” continues ott’s investigation of themes predicated on the writings of gertrude stein - specifically, the world is round, whose main protagonist is rose - a name (and an image) that has been a constant touchstone in ott’s abstract paintings for a decade.
